Tonight was an average meeting, only lasted one hour.
Approval of bills was standard. there was one expense a little high in the road and bridge fund but budged for and was for a ditch liner in a street in an area with flooding issues.
There were no Township reports, and the Assessor was not there and everyone else, the supervisor, clerk, highway commissioner and trustees were and had no reports.
We received an update on the food pantry...it is scheduled to be completed by next Friday Sept. 3. Very exciting. The next things to be done by next weekend are landscaping, paving the parking lot, putting in the storage racks and units, painting the pantry and putting in the flooring.
The big issue tonight was the Liberty Prairie Trail Relocation near Casey Road. There were many community members who showed up to state their concerns including the expense for the movement of the path. We explained this has been a long time coming, was put in the wrong spot and is because we are having to protect some important virgin prairie land. This is a state protected land. We requested proposals for the path to be moved from civil engeineers and we had 15 proposals. They were all required to have done such type of work and answered questions to the same to assure they know how to work in such land.
Regarding old business we talked about the newly submitted social service applications. 27 were picked up 25 returned on time, 1 late and one not at all. The late one came from teh Sr. Council of Libertyville and as per policy it will not be considered b/c it was not returned on time. It seems our office did contact them reimind them to pick it up and the when they did not turn it in we reminded them to turn it in and the due date it had to be in by.
That is the gist of the meeting. You should have been there.
Other misc. news our Township Open Space manager bred his two labs and the girl had a litter of 10 pupc which have been certified and he is selling at a good price. they are currently about 4 weeks old.
